William Theodore Hackel, age 89, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at his home in Rice Lake, WI.

William was born on June 14, 1933, to John and Josephine (Fischer) Hackel, in Minneapolis, MN, one of eight children.

William enlisted in the US Navy on April 14, 1951 and served during the Korean War, and was discharged on April 15, 1954. After his years of service, he entered marriage with Louise Grace Roelke. They were married on October 1, 1955, and to this union, four children were born. In his early years, William worked in the maintenance/engineering departments of multiple factories in the food industry. He also owned and operated his own home remodeling company for several years, and in the fall of 1977 purchased a resort in Chisago City, MN, which he operated until the early 1990’s. After he sold the resort, he retired to Amery, WI and had just recently moved to Rice Lake, WI.

William was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine, sisters Helen and Francis, and brothers John, Richard, Robert and Thomas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Louise, and their children, William Jr., Kathleen, Scott (Pat), and Nancy (Joe) and their grandchildren: Amy, Nicholas, Katrina, David, Melissa, Sarah, Michael, Jennifer and Daniel, as well as 16 great-grandchildren, his brother Lawrence and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI.

A private family interment will take place at the Amery Cemetery.
