In Memory of Willard H. Peters
Willard (Bill) H. Peters, quietly passed away on August 21, 2022 at the Maple View Assisted Living Home in Michigan, reaching the age of 91 years.
Bill was born on December 1, 1930 to Cary and Flossie (Allman) Peters in Gratiot County, Michigan. Bill grew up in the Harrison Community and received his education at the Amble School. At the age of 13, he gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on March 12, 1944.
On July 24, 1955, he married Mary Koehn at Harrison, Michigan, where they made their home for 23 years. In the spring of 1978, they moved to El Campo, Texas, where he farmed for 2 years. In the summer of 1980, they moved to Barron and purchased a small dairy farm. After their children married, they sold the dairy and relocated in the area.
Bill was a handy man. He enjoyed fixing up bicycles for his grandchildren. Also, working on small engines for friends and neighbors. Some other occupations were night watchman at Jerome’s Turkey Store and working at AJ Manufacturing in Bloomer. In his later years, he enjoyed scrap metal recycling.
Surviving are his son, Kevin (Sheila) of Almena; daughters, Joleen (Larry) Kenagy and Gayla (Ezra) Kanagy, both of Barron; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna Peters, Helen Peters and Donna (Kurt) Fellows, all of Ithaca, Michigan; sister-in-laws, Vada Peters of Murray, KY and Ellen Peters of Ithaca, MI.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; grandson, Kendall Kanagy; sister, Hazel Holdeman; brothers, Earl, Herbert and Orval Peters.
Funeral services for Bill will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Barron Mennonite Church in Barron. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the service on Monday morning. Burial will be at the Barron Mennonite Cemetery in Barron.
Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
