Wes Stellrecht, age 69, a resident of Rusk Township, died at his home on Saturday, May 26, 2018.

Wesley Warren Stellrecht was born on June 23, 1948 in Spooner, Wisconsin to parents Warren and Elsie (Durand) Stellrecht.  He attended and graduated from Spooner High School the Class of 1966.  He entered the US Army on May 7, 1968 and served as a Medic in Vietnam until he was wounded and honorably discharged on February 9, 1970.  For his service, he was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Medical Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and several other decorations.  On August 8, 1970, he was united in marriage to Linda LeMone at the Sacred Heart Church in A&H.  He would spend most of his life as a General Contractor for Bassett and Stellrecht Construction.  After his retirement, the couple would spend their summers in Alaska and for the last few winters, they would travel to Florida where they enjoyed fishing from their pontoon boat.  He loved to hunt and fish, and cared deeply for his family, friends, and his Vietnam “Brothers”.  

Wes is survived by his wife Linda, son Chad (M) of Loveland, CO, mother Elsie Stellrecht of Spooner, sisters: Janet Erickson of Shell Lake, Diane Stellrecht of Moose Lake, MN, Beth (Alan) Lawrence of Shell Lake, Mary (Phil) Watkins of Hugo, MN, Lori (Lyndon) Becker of Spooner, brothers: twin brother Wallace (Mary) of Shell Lake, Jeff (Nancy) of Shell Lake, Mark (Laurel) of  Shell Lake, granddaughter Greta Stellrecht of Loveland, CO, and many nieces and nephews.

Wes is preceded in death by his father Warren Stellrecht.  

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 2pm, at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Hospice Chaplain Dennis Fowler officiating.  Online condolences may be left at www.bratley-nelsonchapels.com
