Wayne H. Kupsch, 81, Sarona, formerly of Stone Lake, WI died on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Vista Prairie at Brentwood in Rice Lake, WI.

Wayne was born on February 4, 1944 in Marshfield, WI to Harold and Della (Pekowsky) Kupsch. He lived in the little Village of Milladore, WI. After completing high school, he married his sweetheart, Joyce Pankratz. They have been married for 63 years. Soon after, his stepbrother asked him if he would like to work for the Copp’s Company where he eventually became a corporate meat manager in charge of opening new corporate stores. While living in the Delavan, WI area he served as a Village Trustee when they lived in Darien, WI. along with serving on the fire department and EMT crew.

In 1983 he moved to the Stone Lake area and worked for the Northern Lakes Coop in the meat department. He became the grocery store manager until his retirement in 2010. In August of 2023 he and Joyce moved to Sarona.

Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He served as a volunteer firefighter and held multiple positions on the Stone Lake fire department for 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Joyce Kupsch of Sarona, WI; children Lynn (Linda) Kupsch, Sarona, WI, Laurie (Aaron) Nielsen, Shell Lake, WI, Loren (Amanda) Kupsch, Trego, and Luke Kupsch, Shell Lake, WI; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 stepbrothers and 1 stepsister.

A time to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 4-7pm at the Spooner Funeral Home 306 Rusk St. Spooner, WI 54801. In lieu of flowers, live outdoor plants would be preferred.
