In Memory of Veronica L. Middendorp

January 28, 1932 - December 12, 2024

Veronica L. Middendorp, 92, of Cumberland died peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. She was born January 28, 1932 in Clayton, WI to Charles and Agnes (Semanko) Stesniak.

She married Calvin Middendorp on May 29, 1954 in Turtle Lake, WI. They dairy farmed together for about 40 years. She loved the animals and continued to milk cows almost into her 70s.

Between raising her large family and tending to her animals, Veronica took to perfecting her hobbies around the home, including canning, gardening, and making her marvelous pie crusts. Her kids noted that it wasn't a true holiday get together without an abundance of her pies!

Faith and family were the most important pieces of her life. A faithful member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, she regularly prayed for family and anybody who was ill or needed prayers.

She took great pride in her family’s accomplishments, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to show them off, taking pictures of them all at family gatherings, which later would cover the walls of her home.

She is survived by her children, John Middendorp, Cathy (Grant) Tarpinian, Beverly Middendorp, Patty (Tom) Shervey, Connie (Joel) Stark, Veronica (Scott) Drost and Charles Middendorp; grandchildren, Joyce, Leah Anne, Kimberly, Robert, Jennifer, Jason, Jonathan, Jamie, Lori, Ryan, Ashley, Steve, Jake and Lea; 22 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Calvin; parents; one brother, Stanley; and two sisters, Delores and Lillian.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Cumberland. Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Skinner Funeral Home, Cumberland, and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment St. Anthony Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Robert Tarpinian, Jason Tarpinian, Jonathan Tarpinian, Ryan Drost, Steve Drost and Jake Drost.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the nurses and aides of St. Croix Hospice that so diligently gave our mother care and support. We cannot thank them enough--they were wonderful.
