Trudy Ann (LacQuay) Wylie, 61, of Frederic, Wisconsin, departed from this Earth for the eternal wildflower meadows she loved to wander. Trudy passed away on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, 2019, at her residence after losing her battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born in Scott County, Minnesota, on December 9, 1957, to parents Patricia J. (Syverson) Breckenridge and Robert F. LacQuay. The family moved to Polk County, Wisconsin, when Trudy was eight years old. She attended Unity High School in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. 

Trudy was a self-described “hippie chick” who loved the natural world and her connection to it. Her Native American ancestry was evident in her long black hair, her dark eyes, her tall calm stature, and her deep love of nature. Trudy’s favorite color was purple and she liked to surround herself with the things she loved from nature, plants, flowers, as well as wall hangings, posters, tie-dyed t-shirts, peace signs, and long flowing dresses. She enjoyed treasure hunting and would pick up any beautiful item that caught her eye and add it to her collection. Trudy was an exceptional cook and her kitchen was filled with creations enjoyed by family and friends. 

Trudy had retired just prior to learning of her cancer diagnosis, and she was looking forward to many more happy years with her beloved partner George, her friends, her children, and especially her grandchildren. 

Trudy was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; three brothers, Robert LacQuaye, James LacQuay, and Wade Kelly LacQuay; and her first husband, Mark Wylie (father to Kurt and Casey). 

Trudy’s living legacy is her four children: Kurt Wylie, Casey (Valerie) Wylie, Aaron Anderson, Amy (LeRoy) Kroeplin; and her eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and five step-great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her close companion-partner, George Zappa, who was her caregiver during her final time on Earth; and Trudy’s brother, Scott (Sally) Derksen. Also surviving her are former husbands, Jim Anderson (father to Aaron and Amy) and Jeff Wylie, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members; and many close friends, who were like family. Trudy’s children would especially like to thank Carol Allers and her daughter, Grace for their help and outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. 

In April, a benefit was held at the Lewis VFW for Trudy’s care and final needs. Trudy’s family and friends are grateful to everyone in the community for their expressions of compassion and generous contributions. The family would also like to thank ADORAY Home Health and Hospice for their home care and support they provided during Trudy’s final months of life. 

There will be a Celebration of Life for Trudy in the near future.
