In Memory of Timothy L. Curtin
Timothy Lee Curtin, age 66, a resident of Grantsburg passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.
Tim was born on November 29, 1955 at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina to parents Audry and Marion (Bussen) Curtin.
After Tim graduated, he enlisted into the US Marines as an aviation supply technician. Upon discharge he served in the Army National Guard in Minnesota. After 9/11, he enlisted into the United States Navy. During that time, he served as a Master At Arms, spending a year in Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom. He continued service until he was honorably discharged in 2012. After the service Tim worked for Burnett County as sheriff, and the Grantsburg Police Department as a DARE instructor and police officer. He was a member of the Grantsburg Legion and was the current chairman for the Grantsburg Township.
Tim married the love of his life, Penny Olson on August 1, 1992 at the Methodist Church in Grantsburg.
In Tim’s free time he enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time with his family and friends. Tim was very sociable and would sit over coffee, sharing his faith and views with all.
Tim is preceded in death by his mother, Marion.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 30 years, Penny; his father, Audry; children, Rebekah Curtin, Joshua Curtin, Kathryn (Ruben) Maravilla; sisters, Kathy Cabot, Linda Curtin, Brenda (Jennifer) Curtin. Brother, Daniel (Patty) Curtin; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM (visitation 8:30-10:00 AM) at Grace Baptist Church in Grantsburg. Interment will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Anderson, Bill Cordell, Steve Dahl, Wayne Norling, Russ Stone and Duke Tucker.
Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg.
