Thomas Cedric Hansen was born on September 12, 1949, in Fredric, WI the son of Leroy & Ann (Marquette) Hansen. Tom grew up with family in Frederic, WI before moving to the big City of south Minneapolis. It was an adjustment to live in the city for Tom and his siblings. He attended Washburn HS but graduated from Richfield High School. In 1967. Tom enjoyed playing baseball and football during his high school years. One of the highlights of living in the city, as a youth Tom worked at Metropolitan Stadium where the Twins and Vikings played. He worked there as an usher, bat boy, and helped with the grounds and had fun stories to share about those days he loved. He continued to love and be a fan of the Vikings and Twins. After graduating high school, Tom enrolled at Bemidji State College for one year. In 1968, during the Vietnam war, Tom was drafted into the Army and was sent to Fort Campbell, Kentucky for basic training. After serving 18 months in West Berlin, Germany he was honorably discharged and returned stateside. In 2022 Tom participated in the Veterans Honor Flight from Milwaukee to Washington DC. Tom said, “this was one of the best days of his life” Tom was proud to serve in the US Army. Returning home from Germany and reuniting with family, he attended Dunwoody Technical College to study mechanical drafting. Tom’s family moved back to Wisconsin to Grantsburg. He lived at Webb Lake where his brother Mark ran a bar where Tom worked. He also worked as well at the Steakhouse at McKenzie Lake where Tom met & married his first wife Karen. Tom & Karen were married in 1977 and divorced in 1986. Tom moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, “Enjoying the good life” on his boat and selling radio advertising. In 1989 He moved back to St Croix Falls, WI, selling insurance for Farmers Insurance. In the early 90’s, Tom moved to Amery WI doing radio advertising sales for WXCE and later became manager. In 1995 he worked as a Medi van driver and met his second wife at ARMC, who worked at the hospital. Tom & Penny were married 1995 and had a big yard and a speed boat where they boated on Lake Wapogasset on the weekends where they loved to fish. They divorced in 2021. Tom was an avid fisherman and deer hunter, and he rarely missed a deer hunting season at the Hansen family deer shack in Webb Lake, built by his father. The deer shack has been in the family since 1961 and was known for more shenanigans than for actual deer hunting!  Great memories for the Hansen family and many friends that they shared the cabin with Fishing was another great love of this outdoorsman. Roy, Tom’s dad and family & friends own a fishing cabin in Canada. These trips with many stories have been enjoyed and carried on nearly every year with family and friends. Tom was well known for his sense of humor and quick wit He made friends wherever he went. Just having a conversation with Tom made you happy. As Tom spent his last year of life in and out of clinics & hospitals, it was always said of Tom, “He is such a nice man”. Tom’s last home was in Clear Lake, WI. He chose to downsize from his Amery home and move to Clear Lake. He wanted to spend more time golfing, fishing and taking trips. Tom loved his new home & neighbors.
