In Memory of Thomas B. Doyle


November 30, 1952 - October 30, 2023

Thomas B. Doyle Age 70, of Rice Lake, WI, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Mayo Health System Northland in Barron, WI.

He was born on November 30, 1952 in Eau Claire, WI to Edward and Eileen (Hartman) Doyle.

They moved to Rice Lake when Tom was 2 years old and Ed bought a downtown hotel which would become the King Edward Inn. He attended school at St. Joseph, a Rice Lake High School graduate in 1971, graduated from UW BCC and attended UWEC. Tom grew up in the hotel business. It was in his blood and he loved it. In May 1976 he married Jolene Peterson. They were college sweethearts. Together they owned and operated several businesses in Rice Lake - The Best Western, Cedar Mall Travel, David’s Men’s Shop. Partners on the establishing of Home Spun Tours and G.B. Heron’s Clothiers and Tailors. For 23 years they enjoyed vacations in their 2nd home in Palm Desert, California. Tom loved their pet dogs, Pepsi, Simba and Cooper. Tom is one of the oldest members of the Best Western Family of hotels. Under his leadership they received many Quality Assurance Awards and 1 ML Guerten Founders Award for excellence of operations, housekeeping, maintenance and above all Customer Service.

He is survived by his wife, Jolene Doyle; a brother, Larry Doyle; his sister, Patricia Sullivan; a brother-in-law, John Peterson; a sister-in-law, Diane (Greg) Tetzner; nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and his wonderful crew of Best Western Inn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Eileen Doyle.

Private services will be held. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.
