In Memory of Terry L. Cave
Terry L. Cave, age 74, went home peacefully to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 25th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Terry was born March 29, 1949 in Cook, Minnesota to Norman and Ilah (Mills) Cave. The Lord blessed Terry with 50 years of marriage to his beautiful bride Joyce (Pearson), three children Tim (Lisa) Cave, Kristin (Nate) Stenholtz, Lindy (Ben) Bakeberg along with 11 grandkids and one great-grandchild.
Terry’s hard work, dedication and attention to detail was displayed during his years as a baker in Duluth, MN, working in the Homestead Mills Feed Store in Cook, MN, driving truck at the Inland Steel Mine in Virginia, MN and working in shipping at Potlatch in Cook, MN . During this time, Terry (and Joyce) felt a call on their family to leave the security of working at Potlatch to follow God’s leading into full-time Camp Ministry. Terry served at Lake Ellen Camp in Crystal Falls, MI, and Fortune Lake Camp in Crystal Falls, MI and Wood Lake Bible Camp in Grantsburg, WI. Terry left full-time camp ministry in large part to be able to attend his kids' many activities and worked at Northern Manufacturing in Grantsburg, WI. In 1997, trusting God’s leading, Terry and Joyce launched “Cave Companies” where together they remodeled and flipped countless homes before HGTV was popular.
Regardless of the job Terry worked, he sought to do the job with excellence, while encouraging the people he served. It was common for Terry to pray with and for the people he worked with. He was active in church over the years and modeled a deep love of God to his family and others. Terry loved fishing, metal detecting, and going to South Padre Island, TX in the winters with Joyce. The greatest joy was supporting his kids and grandkids at concerts, games and activities regardless of the season. His biggest highlight each summer was their annual Cousins Camp with all the grandkids. Two weeks ago he met his first great-granddaughter which brought so much joy to him. Terry modeled a deep love, commitment and trust of his Savior Jesus Christ that was developed over years of reading scripture and living out the truths of scripture in the ups and downs of life.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Ilah Cave and brother Wayne Cave and nieces Tammy Cave and Tara Cave Knutson. He is survived by his wife Joyce (Pearson), children Tim (Lisa) Cave, Kristin (Nate) Stenholtz, Lindy (Ben) Bakeberg, Grandchildren Janelle (Carl) Jamison, Anna (Oscar) Neilson, Rebecca Cave, Mariah Cave, Lily Cave, Josiah Cave, Elyse Stenholtz, Aubrey Stenholtz, Aliyah Bakeberg, Brock Bakeberg, Lincoln Bakeberg and Great Grand-Child Everly Neilson. Siblings, Norman Cave Jr, Harriet (Warren) Edblom, Daniel (Karen) Cave, Jerry (Lucy) Cave, Joyce Drieman; plus many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on July 22, 2023 from 1:30 - 3pm at Grace Church, Grantsburg WI. Celebration of Life at 3pm followed by light supper and Terry’s favorite dessert, ice cream! This will be the weekend that our 16th year of Cousin Camp was planned. Please come to honor Terry and celebrate his life.
