Sylvia Jensen Age 87, of Rice Lake, WI, formerly of Deerfield, WI, died Sunday, November 12, 2023 in Rice Lake.

She was born on April 14, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to Paul and Miriam Grassfield. Sylvia graduated from Waterloo West High School in Waterloo, Iowa and then attended the University of Northern Iowa.

She was married on June 21, 1956 in Waterloo. Sylvia worked various jobs including 9 years as a Teachers Aide in Madison at Orchard Ridge Elementary and several years in women’s retail stores. She was a fabulous and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her memory will be cherished by all that knew her. Sylvia had a love for traveling, being at the theater and going on and having experiences. She swam with the dolphins, went hot air ballooning and flew on a F14 fighter jet. Sylvia had a love for her animals, had a great sense of humor and loved being with people and interacting with them. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church’s teaching Sunday School, Adult Advisor to the youth groups and was a member of the International Crane Foundation

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Jensen; 2 children, Dane (Stacey) Jensen and Kirsten Jensen; 3 grandchildren , Clint (Mary) Rowley, Brittany (Marc) Mejaki and Alyssa (Andy) Hughes; 5 great grandchildren, Jensen Hughes, Chaley Hughes, Walter Mejaki, Ryan Rowley and Emily Rowley; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Miriam Grassfield; a sister, Diana Shields.

A celebration on her life will be held at a later date. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is serving and assisting the family with the arrangements.
