In Memory of Sue E. LaVeau
Sue Ellen LaVeau, 78, of Shell Lake passed peacefully after several strokes, September 9, 2023, at Maple Ridge Care Center. She was born August 1, 1945, in Ashland, WI to Eugene and June (Brickman) Johnston. Sue graduated from Spooner High School in 1963. She was married on October 25, 1963, to Duane LaVeau.
Sue had several hobbies including collecting dolls, quilting, and network marketing selling supplements. She had a strong personality which helped her wrangle her 13 children. She ensured that everyone had a job to do; if anyone appeared to have ideal time, she would give them something to so. Sue’s smile, laughter, and loving companionship will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Duane LaVeau; five daughters: Debbie of Quartz Hill, CA, Julie of Cameron, Tammy of Chetek, Lynette of Barronett, and Lunana of Chetek; eight sons: Douglas of Spooner, Scott of Spooner, Andrew of Barronett, Johnathan of Rice Lake, Aaron of Springbrook, Matthew of Rice Lake, Joshua of Barronett, and Benjamin of Sarona; brother, Randy of Shell Lake; sister, Cindy of Loyal; brother-in-law, Gary of Tennessee; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends. Sue was preceded in death by her parents: Eugene Johnston and June Wingler; and brothers: Dennis and Rick Johnston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Skinner Funeral Home, in Shell Lake with Pastor LeRoy Drake officiating. Burial will be in Sarona Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from Noon - 2 pm on Tuesday.
