Steven M. Bildeau, age 62, of Hertel, WI, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, after a long battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI with his loving sister Maxine by his side.

Steven Michael Bildeau was born October 8, 1959, in Steven’s Point, WI, the son of Leatrice DeNasha and Lawrence Bildeau.

He was a proud member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Ojibwe and grew up in the New Post Community. For several years Steve worked for the St. Croix Tribal Housing Authority up until he was diagnosed with ALS in 2017. He enjoyed fixing old treasures he found at garage sales, sharing funny stories, and listening to his cherished heavy metal and rock cassette tape collection. Even with ALS taking a toll on his body he never complained. His mind and humor remained sharp.

He is survived by his children Frankie Bildeau, Jolene Bildeau, Teana (Joseph) Merrill, Shana Corbine, Maurice Corbine & Bryan Corbine; 24 grandchildren & eight great grandchildren; sister Maxine (Michael) Babineau; and brother Ronald (Cheryl) Bildeau; nieces & nephews John (Caroline) Gurnoe, Nicole (Bryan) Gurnoe, Alana (Jason) Babineau, Derek (Kristina) Babineau, Lawrence Bildeau, Anthony Davis, Donald (Melissa) Bildeau Jr., Dana Bildeau, Brandon Bildeau, David White, Adele White, Robin Bildeau, Christina Grover, Cody Gordon, Cory Gordon, and many grandchildren & great grandchildren..

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; infant twins Steven & Stacy; siblings Robert Iron Moccasin, Viola Iron Moccasin, Dave Iron Moccasin, Donald (Tami) Bildeau & Eben Bildeau; and significant other Patsy Taylor.

Tribal Funeral Rites will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. Chato “Ombishkebines” Gonzalez will officiate. Burial will be in New Post Cemetery. Services will begin at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8th at Pineview Funeral Service with a feast being held at 8:00 p.m.

Honorary casket bearers will be Michael Babineau, Samantha Belisle, Frankie Bildeau, Tyler Buck, John Gurnoe & David White.

Casket bearers will be Derek Babineau, Donald Bildeau Jr., Jared Blanche, Bryan Corbine, Maurice Corbine & Aandeg Schlender.
