In Memory of Steve Tonnar


June 30, 1946 - January 9, 2024

Steve Tonnar, 77, of Centuria, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.

Steve was born on June 30, 1946, in Flint, Michigan to Everett and Dorothy (Johnson) Tonnar.

Steve married the love of his life, Edna Gudmunsen at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nye, WI on September 3, 1966.

Steve loved hunting, fishing, camping, flying, 4-wheeling, and old country music. He was baptized in his faith at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Centuria, WI on June 9, 1967. He was a long-time member of Bone Lake Lutheran Church in Luck, Wisconsin. Steve was a welder for 30-plus years at UOP Johnson’s Screens in New Brighten, MN.

Steve leaves to celebrate his memory: his wife of 57 years, Edna Tonnar, Centuria, WI; son, Leslie (Michelle) Tonnar, Centuria, WI; daughter, Romona Tonnar (Bing), Centuria, WI; grandchildren; Ashley, Samuel, Danielle and Steven, four great-grandchildren, brothers, Everett “Butch” (Joan) Tonnar, Bernard (Sue) Tonnar, Larry (Jerene) Tonnar, Terry Tonnar, and Robert (Virginia) Tonnar, brothers-in-law, Michael Holland and William Hailey, sister-in-law, Elaine Gudmunsen, nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Dorothy Tonnar, sisters: Lila Hailey, Janet Haveri, and Joan Holland, brother-in-law, Darwyn Haveri and a nephew and God Child, Norman Holland.

A Celebration of Life for Steve will be held at Bone Lake Lutheran Church, Luck, Wisconsin, on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Deacon Jodi Lorenza will celebrate the service.

Please join the family for lunch and fellowship in the church dining hall following the service. He will be laid to rest at St. John’s Cemetery, Centuria at another date.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
