Shirley Diane Zajac, age 67, a resident of Danbury, WI, passed away on November 12, 2023 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Shirley was born on August 3, 1956 to parents Warren and Lucille (Primeau) Hammar.

Shirley married the love of her life, Fredrick Zajac, on May 9, 1981 at St. Bridget’s Church in Minneapolis, MN. They were high school sweethearts. She was a devoted mother to their only child, Michael. He was truly her pride and joy.

Shirley worked for Quest Phone Company for over 20 years. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, cooking, shopping, word puzzles, and going to the casino. She was an avid bird watcher, and her birdfeeders were never without food. She loved all animals, but especially her dog, Ginger, the “grand lady.” She always said that she would have loved to have been a veterinarian.

Shirley loved being a grandma, and spent as much time as she could watching her grandchildren grow. Their artwork adorned her walls. She also loved spoiling her grand-dog, Bella.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; infant sisters, Shelly and Darlene.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 42 years, Fred; son, Mike (Emily) Zajac; grandchildren, Brock, Colin, Alexis, and Dilan; along with other family members and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at the Danbury Cemetery on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11:00am with Arne Enslin officiating. A luncheon and Celebration of Life will follow at the Swiss Town Hall (7551 Main St E. Danbury, WI).

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
