Sandra “Sandy“ Berg, age 81, of Hayward, WI passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Harbor Living Assisted Living in Hayward.

Sandra was born August 24, 1942, the daughter of Stanley and Valeria (Jachymak) Hirsch in Chicago, IL.

Sandra was raised in Chicago and attended school there. She worked for a short time as a waitress. Sandy was married to Alex Vallos and together they had two children together. Sandy was a stay-at-home mother raising her two children. Sandra and Alex separated and several years later she was joined in married Michael Berg on August 24, 1980. Sandy and Mike lived in Chicago until his retirement when they moved to Hayward, WI. Sandy was an accomplished painter who sold several of her works. While living in Hayward, Sandy and Mike were a big part of raising their granddaughter, Danielle. She enjoyed fishing for crappies with her brother, flower and vegetable gardening, traveling and taking cruises, cooking Greek food and trips to the casino. Sandy was very family oriented and loved Christmas time.

Sandy is survived by her son, Tony Vallos of Hayward; stepchildren, Kerry (Abby) Berg, Patricia (Randy Hyslope) Berg; granddaughter, Danielle Church of Hayward; great grandchild, Armani A. DeBrot; brother, Fred (Rachel) Hirsch of Hayward; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael; daughter, Marie Vallos; sister, Rose Sakowicz; and former daughter-in-law, Dannette Aggen.

A memorial service celebrating Sandy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Hayward Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Hilgendorf officiating. A time of gathering will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. A private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.
