In Memory of Sally A. Strub
Sally Ann Strub, 91, of Grantsburg, WI, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024.
Sally was born “Dorothy Ann Schell” on March 18, 1932 to George and Helen Schell in Sioux City, IA. After graduating from Dakota City High School, she went on to study at Wayne State College.
In 1953, Sally met the love of her life when her brother, George, brought his friend, Earl Strub, home from the Army. Earl and Sally married in 1954, and raised four children. Sally lived an abundant life, leading the Strub Family home while working and volunteering in her community, including 15 years as Assistant City Clerk in Lancaster, WI.
Summers were spent “up north” at Big Wood Lake in Grantsburg. The family cabin became Sally and Earl’s permanent home in 1995, where Sally found immense joy in summers filled with family, friends, and countless fish fries. Sally also loved being a Winter Texan, and spent many winters at Green Bay South in La Feria, TX.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and George; her husband of 59 years, Earl; and brother, George. She will be deeply missed by her children, Dave (Jane) Strub, Patti (Mark) Yelich, Mike Strub, and Rick (Julie) Strub; her grandchildren, Libby (Tim) Mahowald, Emma (Chris Mark) Strub, Hannah (Brandon) Johnson, April Yelich, Jack Strub, and Sam Strub; and her great-grandchildren, Miguel and Mateo Mahowald.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 16, from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Grantsburg. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
