In Memory of Ruth Turney

March 10, 1947 - May 4, 2019

Ruth Pearl Roma Turney of Sarona, Wisconsin was born March 10, 1947 in Farmersburg, Iowa to Victor and Orma (Kuhse) Benzing.  She passed away suddenly on May 4, 2019.  "Ruthie" to family and friends was a 1965 graduate of Jefferson High School.  Ruth went on to marry James Turney on March 4, 1967 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Jefferson, Wisconsin.  They had two sons, Jeff (Erica) Turney of Oxnard, California and Bret Turney of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.  Ruth also adored her two grandchildren, Tori and Zaac.  Ruthie was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister and aunt and she is survived by two brothers, Oran (Sylvia) Benzing and Arden (Marcia) Benzing, two sisters, Mary (Tom) Farrell and Jean (Dennis) Stedman a sister-in-law Drinda Benzing as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother, Wayne Benzing, and a grandson, Ryal Lee Turney.

Ruth had grown up and raised her family in the Jefferson/Fort Atkinson area, where she worked at Nasco and The Title Abstract Company.  Ruth and Jim had moved to Gold Canyon, Arizona for 20 years to enjoy the sunshine and warm winter weather.  They had recently relocated to the Sarona area to be closer to family.  Ruthie enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidery, crafting and playing computer games.  She had a competitive streak which surfaced in bowling and contentious card games with the family.  Ruth was also a regular spectator for every sport her family members participated in, even acting as the score keeper for numerous softball games throughout the years.  However, the thing Ruthie enjoyed most was to spend time with family and friends and she truly loved to visit with everyone who was able to spend time with her. Her gracious and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 at the Rockdale Lutheran Church at 107 Water St.  Rockdale, Wisconsin 53523.  A service will be held immediately after at 11:00 with a luncheon to follow.  A private burial will take place at a later date.
