In Memory of Ronald A. Andersen
On May 4, 2022, Ronald Andersen passed away unexpectedly at his cabin in Couderay, WI.
He was born on December 28, 1937, to the late Wayne and Margaret Andersen in Belvidere, IL.
He graduated from Belvidere High School in 1957. He entered the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. Upon returning to Belvidere, IL he met and married Nancy Stroup in 1959. This union was blessed with four children, Gary, Greg, Gerald and Teresa. They made their home in Freeport, IL. Ron worked at Viking Chemical Company, in Rockford, IL for many years. Ron was a past president of the Jaycees and part of the original group that started the Freeport Junior Tackle program in the early 1970’s. To be closer to his beloved cabin, Ron and Nancy moved to Wausau, WI in 1988 and he worked for CW Paper Company.
Ron found love again when he met Heloise “Holly” Zank. They were married April 2, 2011. This union brought three stepchildren into his life, Clay, Cathy and Tina. Holly and Ron made their home in Schofield, WI and spent their summers at the cabin on the Chippewa Flowage in Couderay, WI.
Ron loved being “up north” and going fishing. He was a sports enthusiast his entire life and was an avid Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and Wisconsin Badger fan. He and Holly also enjoyed shooting pool. He had many friends and will be dearly remembered.
Survivors include his wife Holly; children Gary (Judy) Andersen, Fairmont, MN, Gerald (Pam) Andersen, Oshkosh, WI, Teresa Holewinski, Kronenwetter, WI; stepchildren Clay (Stacy) Zank, Cottage Grove, WI, Cathy Zank, Wausau, WI, Tina (Dan) Pernsteiner, Hortonville, WI; sister, Linda (Greg) Pyle, St Louis, MO; (9) grandchildren, (6) step grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his first wife Nancy, son Greg and brother, Norris.
A graveside service will be held for Ron at 12:30pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau, WI with Pastor Lance officiating. Military honors will be accorded after the committal service at the cemetery.
