In Memory of Roger T. Gammel
Roger T. Gammel of Milltown, Wisconsin passed away at the age of 80, Saturday, December 10, 2022. He had recently became a resident at Golden Age Manor and died after a short residency due to complications from late stages of dementia.
Roger was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on May 28, 1942 to parents Olive and Harold Gammel, the second oldest of four boys.
He went to Tilden Elementary School and Murray Hugh School, both in St. Paul, and the University of Minnesota and received an AA Degree. Roger managed Clark’s Submarine Sandwich stores in the Twin Cities, Denver and Milwaukee. During his tenure with Clark’s he joined the Army Reserve and spent 6 years as an inactive reservist.
Roger also enjoyed owning rental properties with a close friend. They later partnered other small business ventures. Roger owned and operated a self-service car wash in Maplewood, Minnesota for many years.
Roger and his wife Judy purchased a piece of property on Bone Lake, in Polk County, in 1974 and proceeded to enjoy weekends at the Lake along with friends and relatives. There was lots of swimming, boating, volleyball, games and other fun. Upon retirement, Roger and Judy moved to their property on Bone Lake in Wisconsin in 2006 and enjoyed boating and fishing and meeting lots of new friends. They played lots of Cribbage with neighbors and friends.
Roger is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy and son, Scott. He is also survived by his youngest brother Ray Gammel, who lives in Florida, and many other friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Jerry, and Marty Gammel.
A visitation and memorial Service will be held at Georgetown Lutheran Church, 883 190th Ave, Balsam Lake, on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 with visitation beginning at 10:00 am and memorial service at 11:00 am. A light lunch will follow.
