In Memory of Roger F. Siefert
Roger was born on September 27, 1937, to Harry and Gladys Siefert in Graceville, MN. He was raised in Hibbing, MN, and graduated from Hibbing High School in 1955. Roger went on to join the Navy and served from 1955-58.
Roger married Karen Raati and together they had four boys. He built their home in Anoka, MN. During these years, Roger worked in injection molding and was busy raising the family of four boys and all that came with that!
Roger married Sonja in 1980 and he gained two stepdaughters. Roger and Sonja enjoyed many evenings of square dancing together and met many people through this interest. Together, they owned and operated Roger’s Bait and Sport Shop and later, Roger’s Concrete Creations in Amery, WI. Roger retired at age 74 and he and Sonja wintered in Gold Canyon, AZ where they both worked part-time in the retirement park. Roger learned the art of making beautiful jewelry in Arizona and enjoyed many day trips with Sonja as well as stops in Branson on the way to and fro.
For many seasons, Roger enjoyed his cabin on Lake Vermillion, fishing, hunting, and building things from wood as gifts and for around the house. He was very handy in almost everything and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was excited to have the Siefert family reunion in September 2021.
In addition to losing most of his eyesight from macular degeneration, he courageously fought cancer for years. He never complained and always moved forward. He continued to build birdhouses and kept up his home in Balsam Lake. Roger was proud to say that he accomplished 41 years of sobriety.
He will be missed dearly by family and friends!
