In Memory of Rodney A. Mangelsen

March 26, 1960 - March 12, 2025

Rodney “Rod” Ardell Mangelsen, age 64, of Clayton, passed away on March 12, 2025. He was born on March 26, 1960, in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, to Ardell and Edith Mangelsen. Rod spent his childhood in Brainerd, Minnesota, where he graduated from high school in 1978. He went on to earn certifications in auto and diesel mechanics before completing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls. It was there that he met his wife, Tammie Peterson. The two married in 1989 and built a life together, raising their children, Morgan and Matthew.

Rod was a man of many talents and interests. He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard and began his career as an auto and diesel mechanic before transitioning into accounting. His entrepreneurial spirit led him down many paths—raising Black Angus cattle, investing in rental properties, developing land, and designing printed circuit boards. No matter the endeavor, he pursued it with dedication and ingenuity.

Beyond his work, Rod had a deep love for the outdoors and for his family. He was a skilled hunter and fisherman. Most recently, he embraced his greatest role yet—that of a proud grandpa.

Rod was preceded in death by his father, Ardell Mangelsen; his sister, Patti Hesse; and his niece, Cassie McKibbon. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tammie; his children, Morgan Mangelsen (Julian Ocampo) and Matthew Mangelsen (Heidi); his cherished grandson, Thomas Mangelsen; his mother, Edith Mangelsen; his sister, Penny McKibbon (Dave); and many nieces and nephews.

Per Rod’s wishes, no visitation or funeral service will be held.
