In Memory of Robert P. Ademino


July 27, 1935 - August 18, 2024

Robert P. Ademino, age 89, of Spooner, WI, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Dove Health Care in Spooner.

Bob was born on July 27, 1935, in Bessemer, MI, to parents, Peter and Antoinette (Jimski) Ademino. Bob graduated from Hurley High School and attended Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, MI, before transferring to UW Superior where he earned two master’s degrees. He enlisted in the US Army National Guard and served for 9 years. Bob moved to Shell Lake, WI and began his career teaching at Shell Lake High School. During that time, he met the love of his life, Joan Masterjohn, and the couple married on August 12, 1961. He moved up to Spooner, WI, where he taught English, Speech, and Journalism, and coached the forensics team at Spooner High School. Bob retired in 1992 after 31 years of teaching.

Bob was very active in the community. He served on the City Council for 8 years, the Library Board, and the Board of the Indianhead Credit Union. He was in the Knights of Columbus, Chairman of the Washburn County Democratic Party, and a member of a photography club. In his personal time, Bob loved being outdoors where he enjoyed gardening, walking in the woods, picking berries, and harvesting wild rice.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Joan; children, Joseph (Debby) Ademino, Angela (Mike) Kokesh, and Suzanne (Barry) Hines; grandchildren, Jared (Kayla), Alexandra (Dan), Abigail, Joshua, Jacob, and Olivia; great grandchild, Calvin; siblings, Patricia Anderson and Peter Ademino; brothers-in-law, Jim (Pat) Masterjohn and Tony (Sharon) Masterjohn; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James and Raymond Ademino.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church at 12:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Washburn County Humane Society, St. Croix Hospice – Frederic, WI, or Dove Health Care in Spooner.
