In Memory of Robert "Bob" D. Koehn

July 10, 1959 - July 26, 2025

Our Dad, Robert (Bob) Dean Koehn was born on July 10, 1959 in McPherson, KS to Verlin and Velma Koehn. Jesus called him home suddenly on the afternoon of July 26, 2025.

When he was a young boy, his family moved to a dairy farm in Wisconsin. He had many good memories of growing up with his siblings. He would be the one to tackle the jobs on the dairy. Learning to milk, weld, or repairing whatever needed to be fixed.

He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite at the age of 13. He had a deep quiet faith in God.

He married Neti Josephine Ensz on June 13, 1982. They enjoyed 34 years together. Six children were born to them, one son, four daughters and one angel daughter. We have many good memories of our growing up years. Dad was a song leader for many years. He loved to sing and we older 3 remember Dad and Mom singing in the evening after we were in bed. We remember the security we felt sitting with him in church. He would sometimes hold our wrist and beat time with the singing. He enjoyed outdoor cooking, and we spent many summer evenings around the fire. The fall hog roast was a huge highlight for him.

He enjoyed various occupations over the years after he quit dairying, some of which included log hauling, hanging drywall, and the last number of years working for Tim Peaster pulling a tanker. He was a hard worker and an early riser and was often awake and off to work long before anyone else was up.

In 2015 Mom was diagnosed with cancer and was taken from us in the fall of 2016, leaving Dad very lonely.

He married me, Tami Burnett Isaac on January 23, 2021. We enjoyed four and half special years together. He treated me like a queen. We went everywhere together. He often pointed out many things in nature, the flowers in the ditch and the beautiful sunsets. In our morning conversation, he would often mention the moon or the beauty of the night sky. We did a lot of singing together and I can imagine his deep bass voice singing with the angels. Just a few weeks ago he said “when I get to heaven I want to see my Savior first of all”. He was a very generous person and his thoughtfulness showed in the many little gifts he gave me. He loved to say, “give them the roses while they live”. Everyday we had together was a gift from God.

Those left behind with aching hearts are his dear wife, Tami, his children: Lanae and Chad Bartel (Roblin, MB), LaMont and Mandy Koehn (Carrot River, SK), Bethany (Cumberland, WI), Kelmany and Bobby Isaac (Carrot River, SK), Amberlea and Nate Millsap (Almena, WI). Grandchildren: Kristi & Eric, Dustin, Riley, Tanner and Reese. Ali, Harley, Harrison, Clairie and Parker. Pollyanna, Fredrick, and Ladd. Charlie, Nina, and Edison. Bonus grandson, Garrett Sadtler. His parents: Verlin and Velma Koehn (Cumberland, WI), his mother-in-law Darlene Ensz (Steinbach, MB), Tami’s parents: Louey and Val Isaac (Spirit River, AB), his siblings: Patricia and Chester Wiebe (Buhl, ID), Warren and Renetta Koehn (Henderson, TN), Lavonne and Mike Mininger (Victoria, TX), Faye and Troy Terry (Cumberland, WI), Janelle and Matt Wiggers (Potlatch, ID). Neti’s three sisters and their families, Tami’s brother and three sisters and their families. Close friends, Nathaniel and Marilyn Peachey and many more relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant daughter, his parents-in-law, and a sister-in-law.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Gospel Mennonite Church of Almena. Interment Bethany Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 30th, 2025 from 5 - 8 PM at Gospel Mennonite Church of Almena, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
