In Memory of Richard O. Grover


May 27, 1935 - February 28, 2023

Richard Orin Grover, 87 of Barronett passed away on February 28, 2023 at his home with his wife by his side.

He was born March 27, 1935 in Cumberland, WI to Lyle and Gladys (Larson) Grover.

Dick grew up in the Cumberland-McKinley area and attended Emerson Elementary School. He graduated from Shell Lake High School in the class of 1953. Following school he spent four years in the Army Air Force. The last three he was stationed in Hawaii, and flying to various South Pacific Islands to repair radar on planes.

After his stint in the Army Air Force, he returned home and worked several jobs before he was recruited by Douglas Aircraft. When that contract was finished, he moved to the Twin Cities and worked in trucking and warehousing until his retirement in 1994.

In 1972 he was married to Dorothy (Ketlan) Gaskins who preceded him in death in 1990.

In 1992 he married Ruth Speiser in Lino Lakes and soon after they would return to Barronett, WI. There he spent many happy hours hunting and fishing, and always lending a helping hand to his neighbors and community.

He will be missed by wife, of 30 years, Ruth; step-children, Melanie (Dale) Janz and Dennis (Darlene) Speiser; 3 step-granddaughters; 5 step great-grandchildren; sister, Delores “Pooch” Olson; three nieces, Jody Lockman, Vickie (Pat) Cody and Jane (Bill) Skar as well as many other extended family.

He is preceded in death by parents, Lyle and Gladys (Larson) Grover; step granddaughter, Kari Janz; first wife, Dorothy; two step-sons; sister, Dorothy (Tracy) Dickson; brother-in-law, Kenneth Olson.
