In Memory of Richard L. Rasmussen


August 13, 1965 - January 3, 2023

Richard (Junior) Rasmussen, age 57, of Clayton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at his home from a long battle with terminal cancer.

Junior was born on August 13, 1965, in Spooner to Richard and Emma (Rosseter) Rasmussen. He graduated from Barron High School in 1983. After high school, he worked for American Tool until the plant shut down. During this time, he had three children and raised them in the Barron area.

Many of his hobbies were fishing, hunting, being on the farm and spending time with his daughters and nine grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them play softball, baseball, basketball, volleyball, and gymnastics.

He was currently employed at Lake Country Dairy in Turtle Lake in the sanitation department, where he was a devoted employee who will be missed by many.

Junior lived by the saying “Never say never”.

He is survived by his three daughters, Nicole (Forrest) Lauff of Cameron, Stephanie Rasmussen of Cumberland, and Heather (Brent) Rasmussen of Clayton; nine grandchildren, Emma, AnnaLynn, Codie, Kori, Andrew, Abigail, Natalie, Kari, and Fynn; sisters, Roxanne (Edwin) Burke, Becky Rasmussen, Debbie Rasmussen (Mike) and Berta Rasmussen; and brother, Ronnie Rasmussen; as well as many nieces; nephews; cousins; aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Buster Meeks; and nephew, Ronnie Hecht.

A funeral service for Richard will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron. A visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
