In Memory of Richard Danielson


September 26, 1951 - October 5, 2023

Richard “Dick” Danielson, age 72, a resident of rural Spooner, died at his home on Thursday, October 5, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Dick was born on September 26, 1951, in Pasadena, California to parents Warren and Margaret Danielson. After high school, he graduated from Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. Dick met Cindy Stykel in 1983, and the couple traveled throughout the United States before buying their home near Spooner in 1999. In 2002, they purchased the Buckhorn on Spooner’s Main Street and renamed it Big Dicks Buckhorn Inn. On December 23, 2017, the couple was married in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dick was an avid Twins and Vikings fan, and enjoyed motorcycling, and white-water rafting.

Dick is survived by his wife Cindy, children: Luke (Sunshine) Danielson, Soren Danielson, Kari Danielson, Shalane Fox, 9 grandchildren: Arvid, Raul, Paige, Warren, Jacob, Andrew, Aiden, Jacob, 5 great grandchildren: Annie, Ayla, Abel, Kyler, and Soren III, sister Connie (Phil) March, several nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends he made through the years while owning the bar.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Charlotte, and grandchild Soren Jr.

A gathering of friends and family was held on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 4-7pm, at the Spooner Funeral Home. A celebration will be held at a later date at Big Dicks Buckhorn Inn.
