In Memory of Reuben Martin


June 30, 1934 - January 23, 2022

Reuben Charles Martin was born to Henry and Mary Martin in Osceola, WI on June 30th, 1934. He attended school in Osceola and worked at Swanson Implement in Farmington, and the Cheese factory while still in school. After high school he worked 5 years at Andersen Windows in Bayport, MN.

He met Estelle Mary Ann Lee on a double date~she was “the other guy's” date. They married on June 9th, 1956. They lived in Roseville, MN where they raised their 5 children. Reuben volunteered for the Roseville Auxiliary Police. They were members of both Prince of Peace (’59-’71) and North Heights Lutheran Churches (’72-’88) where both Reuben and Estelle sang in the choir. Reuben attended St. Paul College studying to be an electrician from ‘57-’58 at the same time working for Ron’s Pure Oil in Roseville. He also worked for a time at Liggett and Myers and Cobb Rambler Dealership. Reuben’s primary vocation was claims adjuster for Great Central Insurance where he worked for 10 years.

He had lots of invention ideas, loved to read, work on cars, machinery, and crossword puzzles. He was an avid Cribbage, 500 and Scrabble player.

After building a new home on the Martin Family Farm property he and Estelle moved to Somerset in 1988. They became members of St. Luke's in New Richmond, WI.

For a number of years he drove school bus for Osceola and worked as distribution manager for the Osceola Sun. For a short time he was a volunteer driver for VA patients.

Reuben had a big heart and enjoyed talking with a variety of people.

He was ushered into heaven on January 23, 2022.

Reuben is preceded in death by his wife, Estelle and daughter-in-law, Debbie Martin.

He is survived by daughters, Becky, (Jim) Meyer, of Osceola, Susan, (Tom) Vandenheuvel, of Roseville MN, Rachel, (Robert) Brough of Little Canada, MN, Sally, (Larry) Lowe, of Somerset WI and son, Tom Martin of Somerset; 22 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Lorraine Lee and Phyllis Martin and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
