In Memory of Rebecca L. Anderson
Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Anderson passed away peacefully at Amery Memory Care on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
Becky was born on June 11, 1968 to Jerome and Janet Anderson. She was baptized at Little Falls Lutheran Church and was later confirmed there in October of 1985. Becky graduated from the Special Education School in Balsam Lake. After her mom passed away in 1998, she stayed with her dad for a bit before moving to a group home run by Tim Newlin—first in Luck and later in St. Croix Falls. When the Newlin’s retired, Becky moved to Harmony Home in Grantsburg, and in September 2022 she moved to Amery Memory Care. Becky worked at Endeavors in Balsam Lake and later at DSI in Siren from 2012 to 2022 when she retired.
Becky was active in the Special Olympics for many years. She had lots of medals, trophies, and ribbons to show for her efforts. Bowling and Bocce Ball were her favorites to participate in. In 2009, she was Special Olympics Wisconsin Area 3 Female Athlete of the Year.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Harold and Eva Anderson and Clara and Alfred Peterson. She is survived by her siblings, Joann (David) Longtin, Gerald (Ellen) Anderson, and Tracy Anderson; nephew, Nathan Anderson; aunt, Terry Sherar of Pacifica, CA; and lots of cousins.
The family of Becky would like to extend their many thanks to the staff at Amery Memory Care and Adoray Hospice for taking care of Becky this past year and a half.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to the Wisconsin Special Olympics or Polk County Special Olympics.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4 to 7 pm at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI.
