In Memory of Phyllis M. Feckner

May 10, 1932 - April 9, 2024

Phyllis M. Feckner, age 91, of Hayward and formerly of Cable, WI, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Hayward Health Services.

Phyllis Mae was born May 10, 1932, in Maywood, IL, the daughter of Philip and Evelyn (Harbin) James. She was raised in Maywood and attended school there. Shortly after her graduation from Proviso East High School, Phyllis was married to Paul Feckner on May 13, 1950. Phyllis and Paul lived in Maywood until 1959 when they moved to Downers Grove where Phyllis was a homemaker raising their large family. Phyllis was a neighborhood mom to all the kids in the area. She enjoyed the ladies bridge club and coffee groups and block parties that were common in the neighborhood. In 1978, Phyllis and Paul moved to Cable, WI where they purchased the Evergreen Tavern. Phyllis began working in the kitchen at the Drummond School District and would also help bartend in the evenings at their tavern when necessary. In 1999, the Evergreen Tavern was sold but Phyllis continued to work for the school until her health would make her retire. Phyllis was a very serious shopper for clothing and items for her home. She loved her children and grandchildren, all babies and all that considered her their Mom. She also loved her collies and other dogs she had throughout her life. Phyllis will be remembered for always being willing to help, her big heart, all the stories she told and as a devoted Chicago Bears fan.

Phyllis is survived by five children, Linda (Joe) Sisco of Cable, Paul “Bo” Feckner of Tucson, AZ, Cindy (George) Siebolt of Cable, Michael (Andree’) Feckner of Yorktown, VA, Julie Albery of Montgomery, IL; fourteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brother, Ronan (Diane) James of Waukesha, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; daughter, Paula Feckner-Wolf, son, Jeffery Feckner; siblings, Jessie Madsen, Amy Cunningham, Audrey Rossi, Evelyn Kowalski, Phillip James, Andrew James and David James.

A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at a later date to be announced.

Phyllis’ family would like to thank all the caregivers at Hayward Health Services and Hayward Regional Hospice for the loving care they provided.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Northwoods Humane Society, PO Box 82, Hayward, WI 54843.
