Phyllis Mae (Grosskreutz) Fall, age 93, of Clayton, WI, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2021, at her farm home with family at her side.

She was born on February 3, 1928, on the family farm in Clayton, WI, Turtle Lake Township, to Edgar and Emma (Erdman) Grosskreutz and was a member of Silver Creek Lutheran Church.

She attended Clover Leaf Grade School graduating from Clayton High School in 1945. Three years were then spent working in St. Paul, MN, and later at Hines Mercantile Store in Cumberland, WI. On June 23, 1951, she was united in marriage to Matt Fall at Zion Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake, WI. They continued farming until retirement. They raised five children, Julie, Beverly, Jerry, Nicholas and Robert.

With their pickup camper, Matt and Phyllis enjoyed many camping trips throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest, especially the south shore of Lake Superior and attending Bayfield Apple Festivals. Twice they drove to Alaska on the Alcan Highway which was a highlight of their travels. Their cabin at Siren was a great getaway from the farm to relax. Phyllis traveled abroad to Russia on a tour and went to Ulverston, England three times to visit her sister-in-law, Sharon Fall’s, penpal, Dorothy and her family. Phyllis was an active member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Clayton, and its Sisterhood activities. She enjoyed singing alto in the church choir. She also was a singer belonging to a Sweet Adelines chorus, “Hay River Harmony”, and later sang in a quartet group “The Something Else”. Singing German with an Amery, WI, choir was fun for her because of her German heritage. She was a member of the Jolly Jills Homemaker’s Club for many decades. Hobbies kept Phyllis busy with creativity. Crocheting, needlework, quilting, sewing, flower gardening, collecting antiques especially perfume bottles, baking (her Valentine’s Day cookies and apple dumplings were the best) and the art of Ukrainian Egg decorating were among her many talents. These have been passed down to the next generations. This lady loved her family dearly. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her so much joy. She has left us with so many treasured memories and stories.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt Fall, her parents, Edgar and Emma Grosskreutz, a brother Jerome, her sisters, Pearl (Carl) Hanson and Delores (Arthur) Pederson, a nephew, Bernard Hanson and a niece, Bethinne Sockness. Phyllis leaves to celebrate her memory, her children, Julie (Tom) White, New Richmond, Beverly (Jerry) Kistner, New Richmond, Jerry (Susan) Fall, Clayton, Nicholas, New Richmond, Robert, Clayton.  Her grandchildren, Jason (Jill) Kistner, Hudson, Bryan (Mary) White, Elysian, MN, Jessica (Tim) Bingham, Athens, Jacob (Valerie) Fall, Clayton, Megan (Tony) Jansa, Glenwood City, Lynnae (Mike) Nehring, Boyceville. Great-Grandchildren, Daylen and Frida Kistner, Elizabeth and Lauren White, Isaac, Egan and Alexander Bingham, Evelyn, Jayden, Elsie and Vivian Phyllis Fall, Arleigh Mae and Theodore Jansa, Kierra and Vayda Nehring. Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Peter and Diane Fall, Walter and Sharon Fall, Helen Falkenthal and many dear nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers are Jason and Jill Kistner, Bryan and Mary White, Jessica and Tim Bingham, Jacob and Valerie Fall, Megan and Tony Jansa and Lynnae and Mike Nehring.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Williamson-White Funeral Home, Amery, WI.

(Family requests masks be worn.)

A funeral service for immediate family only will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021, at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Clayton, WI, with burial in the church cemetery. Fr. Christopher Wojcik will officiate.
