In Memory of Peter J. Vadnais
Peter John Vadnais, 62, of Cumberland passed unexpectedly on November 28, 2024. He was born July 25, 1962, in St Paul, MN to Marshall and Sandra (Seiber) Vadnais.
After graduating high school he earned a degree in culinary arts which led him to job opportunities in the Twin Cities including Lutsen Resort as a pastry chef. He later returned home to work at Jeromes which would later become Jennie-O. Peter worked at Jennie-O for almost 30 years and made many friends while working there.
He met the love of his life, Ethel Rapley, in 1998 and they decided to get married on October 11, 2020.
Peter was quite a character and loved to make those around him laugh. He had a pretty good Elvis impression which was known to gather a crowd. His love for singing carried on throughout the years. Peter had a heart to serve and his faith in God was very important to him. He was a part of a number of volunteer groups.
He enjoyed fishing and deeply loved gardening. If someone had questions about gardening, Peter was always happy and willing to share his knowledge. Peter and Ethel had several chances to travel to South Dakota, Wyoming, and several other places.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Vadnais; three brothers: Andrew, Chris (Barb), and John (Ruthanne) Vadnais; sister, Betsy (Mikey) Krohn; half brother, Greg Vadnais; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; several aunts and uncles; many other family and dear friends. Peter was preceded in death by his parents; aunt; and half brother, Thomas Vadnais.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Red Cedar Church in Rice Lake with Pastors Wes Duff and Todd Arneson. officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, in Chetek at 1 PM. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland, and one hour before the service.
