In Memory of Patricia R. Young

June 12, 1943 - July 1, 2024

Patricia Ranee Prouty-Young, aged 81, of New Auburn, WI, passed away on July 1st, 2024, in Prairie Farm, WI, surrounded by her loving family.

Born to Cletus and Hannah (Soenksen) Crissey in Storm Lake, IA, Patricia was the third oldest of six siblings. As a child, she loved shooting hoops and wearing her holster, carrying her six-shooter. Around the age of 12, her family moved to South Dakota, where she helped her mom care for her younger siblings as her dad was a laborer on the road.

Patricia married John Prouty, and together they had three children. She was a dedicated farm-her, raising horses, sheep, chickens, and calves. Patricia also worked part-time at a ceramic shop, pouring hundreds of molds. Her passions included her American Pinto horse - Champion, softball, and participating in the Women’s National Bowling Congress for many years, where she earned numerous trophies and pins.

After the marriage dissolved, she moved her family to Wisconsin and pursued an education at WITC. She obtained her high school diploma in 1983, followed by a college degree in 1986. In 1994, she earned another college degree at CVTC. During her studies, she worked as a front desk secretary at WITC. After completing her education, Patricia became a licensed real estate broker at Four Seasons Realty, eventually co-owning her own real estate company that specialized in selling lakeshore properties.

In 1994, Patricia married Bill Young of New Auburn and they shared 25 years of marriage until his passing in 2019. In her spare time, she served as a notary public, prepared taxes, and held the position of Township Clerk for Rusk County. Additionally, she ran her business, Hannah’s Homeweave, a craft shop located in Chetek, WI, and diligently compiled her family’s genealogy with the help of her younger sister Jacque. Patricia’s unwavering faith in God led her to share the word of the Lord with others, and was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Cameron, WI. She had a great love for her family. In her golden years, she never missed an episode of The Rifleman or Gunsmoke.

We express deep gratitude to the staff at Mayo Clinic and to Heartland Hospice Care during her final days.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Sherron Skaggs and Sandra Voss, brothers: Harlan and Marlyn Crissey, and husband William Young.

Patricia is survived by her youngest sister, Jacque (Kelly) Geveshausen of SD, sons William Prouty of WA and Trace Prouty of New Auburn, WI, daughter Christina (Jim) Salsbury of Prairie Farm, WI, grandchildren: Sara, Alex, Dakota, Haiden, Brooke, Hailey, and Hannah, and her great-grandchildren: Lilly, Piper, and Leland.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Abundant Life Church in Cameron, Wisconsin. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and go to the time of the service. The family invites those attending to a luncheon and time of remembrance in the church hall following the service.
