Patricia A. Clough, age 88, of Hayward, WI passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Water’s Edge Care Center.

Patricia Ann Durling was born April 14, 1933, in Moline, Illinois, daughter of Jack and Emma (Tropp) Durling.

She was a graduate of Moline High School and Lutheran Hospital School for Nurses also located in Moline.

Pat worked as a nurse in Milwaukee, WI for several years before her marriage in Milwaukee to Herman “Jack” Clough on August 13, 1960. Her fondest nursing experiences were as camp nurse at the Easter Seal camp in Wisconsin Dells, working with the physically challenged.  She was also employed at the VA hospital in Woods, WI and at Milwaukee’s Deaconess Hospital as head scrub nurse on their first coronary bypass surgical team, working with animal research and using that knowledge later on clinical cases.

After her marriage and moving to Hayward, WI, Pat was employed at the Hayward Hospital until 1969 when she began work with Dr. L. M. Baertsch as a clinic nurse. She retired from Duluth Clinic Hayward in 1997. She has served her community well – as Red Cross blood program chairperson for 5 years, past president and lifetime member of Sawyer Co. Historical Society, and the Hayward Hospital auxiliary, for which she enjoyed doing volunteer work. As a resident at Water’s Edge, Pat was an unofficial ambassador and mentor, making many new residents feel at home in their new environment. She explored her interests in a local investment club, computer classes, and genealogy with a highlight of traveling the parishes of her Swedish ancestors and discovering the Tropp bonde (Swe.) plot. She enjoyed bridge club, card making group, puzzling, and blackjack. Game nights were a favorite with many laughs over marble game triumphs and “Yahtzee Yahtzee Yahtzee!”

Pat is survived by her son Jay (Jayne) of Brooklyn Park, MN; daughter Jennifer of Hayward, WI; grandchildren Samantha (Travis) and Jessica Vosters, Kevin Clough, Noah, Jonah and Emma Clough, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack; son Jon of Eagan, MN; sister Elaine LeVrouw of DeKalb, IL; brother Jack Durling of Moline, IL; and half-sister Sandra Cox of Stockton, CA.

A memorial service will be held for Pat at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6th, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hayward with Pastor Jeff Hogden officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.
