In Memory of Pamela R. Steffan
Pamela Steffan, age 75, a resident of Spooner, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
Pamela was born on February 26, 1949, in Rockford, Illinois, to parents Paul and Frances (Balcsik) Steffan. She attended grade school at St. Bridget Catholic School in Loves Park, IL, and graduated from Bishop Muldoon High School, and moved to Adrian, Michigan, where she studied to become a Dominican Nun for 2 years before leaving the Sisterhood to travel to Guatemala where she worked as a missionary for 3 years. Pamela then returned home and attended Nursing School and after completion, she began an over 30-year career at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. About 10 years ago Pamela decided to retire to the family cottage on Pavlas Lake near Sarona, WI, where she enjoyed the solitude that it provided. She was a voracious reader, spent time volunteering at Hunt Hill, and enjoyed the time with the friends she made, especially her Thursday Card Group.
Pamela preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her brothers Michael Steffan of Loves Park, IL, Raymond Steffan (Theresa Gaziano-Steffan) of Cherry Valley, IL, and (nephew) Paul Steffan of Houston, TX. Pam loved her family, and her many friends too numerous to mention, and she kept in frequent contact over the telephone and Facebook.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shell Lake, WI, with Father Phil Juza as celebrant.
