In Memory of Naomi V. Johnson
Naomi Johnson, born on January 26, 1925 in Clam Falls, Wisconsin on the family farm, passed away on January 4, 2023 at the Traditions of Frederic in Frederic, Wisconsin at the age of 97.
Naomi was born to Lester and Gladys Nelson on the family farm in the cold of winter. She had many brothers and sisters in her blended family. Brothers included Merlin, Kenneth, Halvor, and Robert. Sisters were Doris, Marion, Emma, Helga, Mabel, and Elsie. Naomi learned to work on the farm when she was yet young helping dig potatoes and pick the many string beans. She even got to help go retrieve the cows when it was time for milking. She attended grade school at Rocky Ridge, just a half mile from where she grew up. It was so close that she had to walk to school every day rain or shine.
Early in her life, Naomi decided she had had enough of the farm life so she headed to the city of Minneapolis and found a job as a house keeper. From there she found her way out to New Jersey for a few years where she was a waitress at a large hotel chain and then to Florida for a year before deciding to come back to Wisconsin to spend the rest of her years. Most of her married life was spent working at Minnesota Plastic Molders (MPM) in Frederic and living in Lewis. She enjoyed raising a large vegetable garden and keeping her yard looking like it belonged in an exclusive magazine. Naomi enjoyed having pets around her with Bitsy the poodle being her favorite. Bitsy was with her for 18 years. She also enjoyed the many birds and squirrels she fed in the backyard. Naomi was also known for her famous coleslaw that she brought to family gatherings and the fried chicken she enjoyed to make.
Naomi is survived by her sister Doris Stotz of Frederic and brother Robert Nelson of Lewis. Also many nieces and nephews scattered far and near.
Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home, and the Northwest Wisconsin Cremation Center in Milltown.
