In Memory of Mildred K. Johnson
Mildred Koehn Johnson was born to Abe and Mary Koehn at their home just north of Montezuma on January 16, 1928.
She peacefully went to her reward on July 23, 2023 at Bethel Home in Montezuma, Kansas.
When she was a child, the family moved to Winton, California where she grew up among nine siblings on a dairy farm. She received her education in a country school near Winton. She became a child of God’s at the age of eighteen and was baptized into the Church by her father, Minister Abe T. Koehn. She remained true and faithful to her vows until the end. She was a prayer warrior.
On April 1, 1951, Milly married Duane Johnson. They raised their seven children there among the almond and peach orchards until the move to a Wisconsin dairy farm in 1966. And there one more child was born.
The children grew up and left home one by one and grandchildren were born. Mom and Dad grew old and left the farm to live in a small house in Almena, Wisconsin where they enjoyed several more years. In July of 2014, they made the move to Bethel Home in Montezuma, Kansas, back to where Mom’s life began. Here, Dad passed away in 2017. Mom lived a peaceful life, enjoying excellent care until she, too, was called home on July 23, 2023, reaching the age of 95 years.
She leaves to cherish fond memories her eight children, Mary and Chris Friesen of Muleshoe, Texas, Lester and Pam Johnson of Cumberland, Wisconsin, Gilbert and Leah Johnson of Almena, Wisconsin, David and Marjorie Johnson of Liberty, Kentucky, Joyce and Orlin Reimer of Spiritwood, Saskatchewan, Renetta and Warren Koehn of Henderson, Tennessee, Shirley and Steve Nightingale of Ulysses, Kansas, and Rayanne Copp of Iroquois, South Dakota; 28 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 70 great grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard Johnson; sisters-in-law, Thelma Koehn and Roberta and husband Delbert Nikkel; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral service will be held at Gospel Mennonite Church, Almena Wisconsin on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Comstock, Wisconsin. Visitation will be on Saturday July 29th from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Gospel Mennonite Church, and 1 hour before the service on Sunday.
