Michael Wilson Smith Age 77, of Rice Lake, WI, passed away peacefully at his home in Rice Lake, Saturday, February 25, 2023.

He was born on March 23, 1945 in Rice Lake to Wilson and Leona (Derocher) Smith.

Mike entered the United States Marine Corps and was Honorably Discharged in 1968. He drove semi truck for many years for EL Murphy Trucking Company and was a licensed demolition specialist for the State of Wisconsin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid elk hunter. He spent a lot of time in the woods logging and harvesting wild plants and herbs. He enjoyed a good game of cards and spending time SCUBA diving. He loved getting together with his family and friends and enjoyed a good fish fry. For over 7 years he spent the summers in the Yukon Territory as a prospector for gold and emeralds.

He is survived by his loving ex wife and their family, Dianne Smith; Children, Randy (Tamara) Darling, Tracey Darling and Renae Darling; 4 grandchildren, Trevor (Sable) Darling, Cody (Hannah) Darling, Dean (Brianna) McManus, Robert (Beth) Darling and 1 great granddaughter Aubrey. 3 sisters; Priscilla Smith, Lenore (Duane) Johnson and Diane Smith; many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Leona Smith and a niece Lori Roux.

Graveside Services will be held at 1pm Friday, June 23, 2023 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI with Father Dave Lusson officiating. A celebration of his life will be held from 11am-2pm Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Dianne Smiths home at 2730. 23 7/16 St., Rice Lake.
