Michael Lynn Garcia, age 79, of Hayward, died Thursday, January 26, 2023, at his home.

Mike was born October 29, 1943, in Lincoln, NE, the son of Robert and Edith (Griffith) Garcia.

He grew up in Nebraska with his dad, stepmother Frannie, his brothers and sisters. Mike graduated from Northeast High School. He joined the Navy and completed two terms from 10/22/62 to 9/16/66 and a second term from 3/24/69 to 12/1/70. Mike served on the USS Farragut and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He married Donna, October 6, 1969, and moved to Hayward. Mike worked as a mechanic, for Gillis Motors and ran wrecker service during the nights and weekends. He later opened his own business, Garcia’s Auto Repair with his own wrecker. Mike operated his business until he attempted to retire about 13 years ago. But, as we all know, he missed his customers. Mike ended up going back to work, for O’Reilly’s Auto Parts and later NAPA Auto Parts until November 2022.

He is survived by his wife Donna; children Marvin “Rusty”, Tammy, Robert, and Shawn; five grandchildren; siblings Robert, John, Diana Loose, Steven and Bruce; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mike was preceded by his father Robert (Frannie); mother, Edith; and sister Sharon Ahrens.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 13th at Hayward Veterans Center. Military Honors will be held at 12:30 by Hayward American Legion Post #218.

He will be sadly missed by all.
