In Memory of Michael J. LaRonge

January 28, 1949 - September 19, 2023

Michael James LaRonge, age 74, of Hayward, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

Mike was born January 28, 1949, in Hayward, the son of Enola LaRonge. Mike graduated from Hayward High School in 1967 and then bravely served his country during the Vietnam War as a dedicated Marine. He was assigned as Marine patrol for a Navy vessel. After his service, he ran his own company, painting residential and commercial buildings for many years.

On October 28, 1994, Mike married the love of his life, Verna, in a ceremony that was uniquely memorable and a whole lot of fun, with Mike sporting a top hat and the sound of Verna laughing.

He could often be seen walking to the Moccasin for his morning coffee. He rarely missed a happy hour and was often the only one cheering on his beloved Chicago Bears. His hobbies in the past included playing softball, restoring his 1946 Chevy truck, driving his 1967 Lincoln Continental with Suicide doors while listening to the timeless tunes of The Rolling Stones.

Mike is survived by his nephew, Keith LaRonge of Shorewood, MN, and sister-in-law, Judy LaRonge of Hayward. In-laws: Art Schmock of Hayward, Wanda Toews of Rice Lake, Millie Merk of Hayward, Norma Ross of Hayward and Thorne (Francis) LaRonge of Hayward. And many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Verna LaRonge, his brother, Pierre LaRonge, his mother, Enola (Kitty) Bentley, and his stepfather, Richard (Dick) Bentley.

In their final journey together, Mike and Verna will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward, a fitting tribute to their enduring love.

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you might find what you need." - Rolling Stones Go Bears!

Mike's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
