In Memory of Michael Bruss

March 5, 1949 - January 27, 2022

Michael Bernard “Mick” Bruss was born on March 5, 1949 in Siren, WI to Charles and Clara (Rasmussen) Bruss.

He attended Webster Schools and graduated in 1967.

He enlisted in the US Army where he graduated at the top of his class from basic training, leading a Four-star General onto the field during commencement, and was then stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco. In September of 1969 he married Kathleen Aho in Virginia, MN and to this union two children were born, Dean and Leslie.

Mick loved life, he loved to laugh, and he loved to make others laugh. He had a childlike inner spirit that was contagious. He was the life of the party and truly larger than life in both stature and personality. Although he had many obstacles to overcome, he had a very strong faith that carried him through. He truly never sweat the small stuff, a lesson he tried to teach his family as well.

He absolutely adored his two granddaughters, Hannah and Morgan, as anyone who met him would have certainly known immediately. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and made regular trips to northern Minnesota, Canada, and the western US.

Growing up on the farm he developed a love of running equipment and he was a master at it. If it had an engine and somehow moved dirt, he knew how to operate it and made it look easy. He was also always ready to help his friends and neighbors.

His spirit is strong, and he will live on in the hearts of those who love him forever. He is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Leslie (Chris) Jordan and son Dean (Stan Augustine). His beloved grandchildren Hannah and Morgan, sister Judy (Ted) Biver as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

A funeral service will take place on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 3:00 pm (visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 PM) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster with Pastor Jay Ticknor officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home.
