Matthew Lee Plante, age 57, of Danbury, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025, with his family by his side. He was a loving son, devoted husband, and an epic father.

Matt was born on October 1, 1967, in St. Paul, MN to Richard and Leona (Larson) Plante. He spent his childhood in Oakdale, MN until he moved to the underground home that was built by his father in Somerset, WI. Matt met his wife, Theresa, in band class and graduated from Somerset High School in 1986.

After high school, he completed a couple of years at Lakewood Community College before moving on to complete his Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering at the University of MN - Duluth, where he met several lifelong friends. Matt later continued his education at University of St. Thomas to earn his Master of Science in Software Engineering. He worked as a software engineer across several industries, ultimately playing a key role in Medtronic's cybersecurity efforts. He had several major accomplishments, but you would rarely hear him talking about them.

Matt and Theresa were married in Somerset in 1991. They spent time traveling and building careers before welcoming their first child, Samantha, in 1995 and their son, Daniel in 1999.

Family time and adventure were Matt's two biggest priorities in life, intertwining themselves more often than not. He had a never ending list of hobbies including scuba diving, camping, boating, motorcycling, ATVing, snowmobiling, fishing, grilling on his smoker, R.C. cars and planes, 3D printing and building and flying experimental aircraft. He taught his kids endless lessons via these hobbies like "if you don't fail, you're not trying hard enough" and most recently, "life is too short, so do what you love."

Matt will be remembered for his witty humor and his ability to turn any experience into an unforgettable adventure.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa Plante; his children, Samantha (Alex) Piletich and Daniel (fiancée Taylor Bagley) Plante; his mother, Leona Plante; two brothers, Randy (Mary) Plante and Kory (Dorina) Plante; his father and mother-in-law, Jim and Linda Lanser; his sister-in-law, Trisha (Tim) Donelon; his nieces and nephews, Charlie, Bailey, Kali, Allison, and Zachary; other relatives and friends.

Matt was preceded in death by his father.

A Celebration of Matt’s Life will be held at a later date.
