In Memory of Mary Sadenwasser
Mary A. Sadenwasser of Barnes, WI passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was 81 years of age.
Mary Ann Spiegelhoff was born April 4, 1938 in Palmyra, WI. She was the daughter of LaVerne and Irma (Morrissey) Spiegelhoff, Mary resided in Palmyra and graduated from Palmyra High School. Post high school, Mary worked briefly as a medical assistant and attended a private college in Milwaukee. On June 28, 1958, Mary was joined in marriage to Richard H. Sadenwasser at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Palmyra. Mary worked for the United States Postal Service in Palmyra, serving customers, and sorting mail for over twenty years, after being a homemaker and raising her family. She retired from the Postal Service, and she and Richard moved to the home they built on Kelly Lake in Barnes, Wisconsin. Kelly Lake held a special place in the hearts of both Mary and Richard, as they had vacationed on this lake with their family for many years before their retirement. Mary loved everything about the outdoors. She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and enjoyed the challenge of propegating plants. Mary enjoyed cross country skiing, hunting, fishing and a good competitive game of cards with her family. Mary and her late husband Richard, enjoyed berry picking, cocktails at the beach and long walks on the many trails on their land. Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Palmyra and of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hayward, since her move to Barnes. Mary was a life time member of the Barnes VFW Auxiliary. She was very active in the Kelly Lake Association, and enjoyed the many years she spent with her friends at the Barnes Garden Club. Mary was an extremely independent person, who unconditionally loved her family and people from all walks of life whom she came to know.
Mary is survived by her two children, Stan (Tracy) Sadenwasser of South Range, WI, Anne Sadenwasser of Springbrook, WI; five grandchildren, Faline Townsend, Kaleb Reetz, Jerod Reetz, Zachary Sadenwasser, Makenna (Jason) Struss; five great grandchildren, Angel Reetz who was an especially close great granddaughter to Mary; one brother, Jerry Spiegelhoff of Nekoosa, WI; her springer spaniel, Molly; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; one son, Jerold and one daughter, Sue.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Mary at noon on Friday, February 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward with Father David Neuschwander officiating. A time of gathering with family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until noon on Friday at the church. Interment will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Palmyra, WI.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or St. Luke’s Hospice in Duluth, MN.
