In Memory of Mary P. Kutz


June 9, 1954 - August 14, 2023

Mary “Pat” Kutz, age 69, a resident of Grantsburg, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, August 14, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Pat was born on June 9, 1954, in Brainerd, Minnesota, to parents Burt and Margaret McConnell.

She was a 1972 graduate of Aitkin High School and attended college at UMD, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech & Theatre.

Pat met her future husband Ken while attending UMD. They later married on July 18, 1981, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Aitkin, MN.

Pat was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the community of Grantsburg as a whole. At church she served as treasurer for the IC Council of Catholic Women, as well as the church’s youth group. In the community she served as coach for the Grantsburg Middle School cross country team for a number of years and also served as treasurer for the Save the Golf Course Committee and the Grantsburg Friends of the Library, among others. She volunteered for numerous community causes and worked as a volunteer at Burnett Medical Center’s Continuing Care Center. In her free time she enjoyed knitting, gardening, crafting, travel and spending time with her grandchildren.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents.

She will be missed by husband, Ken; children, Brian (Jamie Blumentritt) Kutz, Sean (Sonny Jenkins) Kutz, and Brendan Kutz; grandchildren, Delanie, Margaret and the third grandchild is due the end of September. She is also survived by other relatives and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Grantsburg. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg.
