In Memory of Marlene Nielsen
Marlene Grace Nielsen, 85, of Luck, Wisconsin, and formerly of Milltown, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the United Pioneer Home in Luck, Wisconsin.
Marlene Hoffman was born on June 20, 1935 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Roy and Grace (Griffith) Hoffman.
She spent her childhood playing softball, kickball, and climbing trees with her brothers. Marlene also loved to roller skate, ice skate, and dance. She graduated from Harding High School in 1953. She moved to the Milltown/Luck area in 1964 and worked many different jobs over the years. She married Erling Nielsen of Luck in 1970 and together they ran Nielsen Oil Company for 21 years.
Marlene was very active in volunteering for the Milltown Community Club, Milltown Ball Park, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW and Interfaith Caregivers. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and attending their many activities. Some of her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, counted-cross stitch, embroidery, playing the accordion, and playing cards. Cribbage was one of her favorites but she was also known for hosting many 500 card parties. She also loved supporting the Nielsen Oilers and the Nielsen Oilerettes, fast pitch softball teams.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Erling, infant son, Steven, infant grandson, Jacob, 2 brothers and 2 sisters and several step siblings.
Marlene leaves to celebrate her memory: son, Patrick (Kathy) Hyden, daughter, Susan (Jeff) Turner, 7 grandchildren, Michael (Jean), Mark , Tina, Ryan (Autumn), Lindsay (Drew), Cailin (Ryan), and Brady (Makenzie), 7 great grandchildren, Brandon (Haley), Colin, Greyson, Ella, Dakota, Ashley, Turner, and baby expected in July, her brother, Robert (Gloria) Hoffman, stepbrothers, Donald Waska and Eugene Waska and stepsister, Mary Waska and special sister-in-law, Lucy Nielsen and several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
A Public visitation will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Joy Lutheran Church in Centuria from 1:00 P.M until 2:00 P.M.
A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M.
