In Memory of Marlene Amdall

February 11, 1946 - November 16, 2021

Marlene Jane Amdall, age 75, of Barron, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 peacefully at her home.

She was born on February 11, 1946 to Lester and Helen (Stowell) Broker in Barron, the youngest of the children.

She married Fredrick Johnson in 1964 and had a daughter, Holly. Fredrick preceded her in death on July 25, 1987.

On June 17, 1989, she married Steven Amdall of Dallas. Marlene and Steven built a wonderful life together raising their daughter Holly.

Marlene spent many years working as a cashier at Auto Stop, Warren G’s and Korner Stop, but got the most enjoyment the past 5 years as a crossing guard. She loved seeing the kids and smiling and waving at everyone that went by.

Her favorite part of life was becoming a grandma on June 1, 2001 to Hunter. She always said if she would have known how much fun it was to be a grandma, she would have started them first.

As Hunter grew up and got friends, Marlene became a grandma to them as well. All the boys would have to do is talk about something they liked to eat and the next day, it would be made. She loved when the grandkids would come over and eat cookies, drink milk and sit and visit with her, even if it was only for a few minutes; it was the highlight of her day.

In May of 2011, she was blessed to be called grandma again. Jason only knew Marlene as grandma, they instantly became two peas in a pod and did everything together. What one didn’t think of, the other one did. Their plans to bake bread and cookies was cut too short.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Steven of Barron; daughter, Holly Johnson (Alan Stone) of Barron; grandson, Hunter Nelson of Barron; brother, Dennis Broker of Arizona; sisters, Marlys (Lee) Swan of Barron & Debbie (Jim) Harvey of Cadott; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Courtney and Jessica Goff and family of Barron.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ed, Delbert and Lloyd; sisters, Joyce Thompson and Deloris Broker.

A funeral service for Marlene Amdall will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Barron with Rev. Michael Nielsen officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021 at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron and one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the church.
