In Memory of Marla Del Rae McFetridge
Marla Del Rae (Shuck) McFetridge, 86 of Frederic Wisconsin passed away at home on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
Marla was born on January 3, 1938 to Ira and Judith (Jamtgaard) Shuck. She was the younger of two children with an older brother Loren. Marla’s mother Judith passed away in August 1939, when Marla was 20 months old. Her father remarried Mable Law, in August 1941.
Marla graduated from Alcester High School. After graduating, Marla went to Sioux Falls and was accepted into the Sioux Falls Orchestra. Then she went to California to a secretarial school and lived with her cousin Iola Jamtgaard.
She met Lowell (Mac, Sam,) in February of 1959. They were married on January 15, 1960. They followed Continental Airlines to Washington State, They had their first child, Corla. Then they moved to Colorado with Western Airlines and had 2 more children, Christy and Craig. They moved to Minnesota with Western Airlines and lived in Prior Lake until the children were grown.
Marla was a stay-at-home mom until the children were older. She then got a job as a secretary at the high school in the Prior Lake School District. After that, she was a secretary to the Superintendent of Prior Lake School District. Marla retired once the children were out of school, and then Marla and Lowell relocated to Utah with Delta Airlines. They were in Utah for 8 years. They returned to Minnesota and then Lowell retired from Delta Airlines. They moved to the family farm in Frederic Wisconsin.
Marla loved to cook and bake, entertain, play Scrabble and card games, go camping, and played the piano and organ. She enjoyed putting on her “Hat Show” with Eastern Star, Church, and the Women of Life group. She was very active in Church, Order of Eastern Star, Masons, and Job’s Daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lowell; parents Ira and Judith (Jamtgaard) Shuck; stepmom Mable (Law) Shuck; and her brother Loren (Maxine) Shuck.
Marla is survived by children Corla (Bob) Niesen, Christy (Todd) Baker, Craig (Kris) McFetridge; grandchildren Josh and Katie Niesen, Andy (Carlyn) Baker, Dan Baker, Megan and Katelyn McFetridge; great grandchildren; Kevin, Kenzie, and Hailey Beck, Axel Dvorak, Lakyn Baker, and Lily Baker.
The funeral service will take place on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at Clam Falls Lutheran Church (3376 65th St, Frederic, WI 54837) with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be following the service at the Clam Falls Lutheran Church Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the basement of the church.
