In Memory of Mark Kasper


February 26, 1952 - January 3, 2019

Mark Francis "Spanky" Kasper, 66, of Turtle Lake died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Marshfield Medical Center-Marshfield. He was born February 26, 1952 in Cumberland, WI to John and Wilna (Campbell) Kasper. He graduated from Cumberland High School in 1970 then attended culinary school in Ashland. Spanky worked in St. Germain for a short time, then at Brenneman's in Turtle Lake before purchasing what would become "Spanky's" in Barronett. He successfully operated the supper club for 29 years, earning a reputation as an exceptional host. After retirement, he drove Northwest Transportation for youth day treatment. Mark was active at St. Ann Catholic Church, in the local and state AA program and loved to entertain and cook for family and friends.

He is survived by his loving partner, Paula Hellstern of Turtle Lake and her children: Alicia (Michael) Halverson of Clayton and Rita (Grant) Hall and children Axl and Londyn of Farmington, MN; stepchildren: Ramona (Casey) Peterson of Blaine, MN, Rebecca (Brad) Sexton of Black River Falls and Kachmir (Timothy) Watt of Billings, MT; grandchildren: Nora, Bailey, Alida, Claire and Hugh; siblings: Ann (Duane) Nelson of Comstock and Kathryn (Donald) Klinkhammer of Cumberland; sister-in-law: Gloria Kasper of Maple Grove, MN; "brothers": Terry, Steve, Ralph and David; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John.

A Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 AM Monday, January 7, 2019 at St. Ann Catholic Church - Turtle Lake with Father Tom Thompson officiating and burial to follow at St. Ann Cemetery. Shaun Klinkhammer will serve as urnbearer. Honorary urnbearers are his loving and supportive AA family. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at the Skinner Funeral Home in Turtle Lake and for 1 hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church.
