In Memory of Marjorie Miller

November 11, 1959 - July 22, 2024

Marjorie Miller, age 64, of Springbrook, WI, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024, at her home.

Marjorie was born November 11, 1959, in St. Paul, MN, to parents, Sylvester and Hazel (Yost) Crowley. After graduating high school, Marjorie went on to live in Stacy, Pequot Lakes, and Randall, MN. While working as a nursing assistant in Sartell, MN, Marjorie met and later married Robert Miller. After her husband retired from the military, she partnered with him to open and run a computer store in Little Falls, MN. After a few years they sold the business and moved to Davenport, IA, for a short time before moving once again to Wichita, KS.

While living in Wichita Marjorie became more immersed in quilting and began making “theme” quilts for family members. After some years she again moved to Holt, MO, some thirty miles north of Kansas City MO. In the home she and Robert moved into there was a large walkout basement that was turned into her quilting room. This additional space provided room for a long arm quilting machine that she had dreamed of having for years. There was also more room to work on projects. She continued to create quilts for family and friends always with a theme as the underlaying design. By the time she learned she had cancer she had completed about 60 quilts. She continued to sew while undergoing treatments for her disease until she moved for the last time to Springbrook, WI. By this time her cancer made it difficult to continue with her quilting, but she wanted to get back to it. While in Springbrook, her and her husband became involved with the American Legion Post 12 in Spooner, WI. In the short time Marjorie was physically able she enjoyed being there for bingo, and the monthly meat raffles, and making new friends.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Samantha Sorge and Jennifer Sorge; siblings, Norma Hatfield, Arthur Crowley, Larry Crowley, and Thomas Crowley; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother Clifford Crowley.

A graveside service will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN, on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Legion Moe-Miller Post 12.
