In Memory of Marilyn D. Hagen


August 24, 1937 - April 6, 2023

Marilyn Darlene Hagen, 85, of Cumberland died Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Care and Rehab in Cumberland.

She was born August 24, 1937, in Frederic, WI to Robert and Agnes (Erickson) Olson.

She was married on July 1, 1961, to Kenneth Hagen who preceded her in death on August 16, 2018.

She graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1955, then attended UW-River Falls, where she attained a B.S. in Education. She taught high school Physical Education in Rice Lake for about 2 years, and also taught in Turtle Lake for a number of years. She went on to substitute teach in the area while her children were growing up.

She was known for her love of gardening, lefse making, card playing, and especially her rooster collecting. Marilyn had a wonderful sense of humor that left those around her smiling. She loved her family and friends dearly. Marilyn and Ken enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Sand Creek, Cumberland, and Arizona.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters: Joleen (James) Helbig of Cumberland, and Beth (David) Ellie of Junction City; son, Joel (Renee) Hagen of Fall Creek; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters: Phyllis Betts of St. Paul, MN, and Betty (Charles) Linden of Frederic; nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; brother, John D. Hedlund.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 15, 2023, at St Paul Lutheran Church, Cumberland, WI with Rev. John Miels officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Cumberland, WI. Visitation will be two hours prior to service at the church.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.
